Face Recognition Based Smart Attendance System Using Raspberry Pi| Send Message Alert To Parents
Project Description:
This project presents a smart attendance system that leverages face recognition technology to automate and enhance the accuracy of student attendance in educational institutions. The system is developed using a Raspberry Pi microcomputer, integrated with a USB camera, a GSM module, and an I2C LCD display.
The USB camera captures images of students as they arrive. Using face recognition algorithms, the system identifies each student and records their attendance automatically. Upon successful recognition, the system displays relevant information (e.g., name, attendance status) on the I2C LCD screen. At the same time, a text message is sent to the student’s parents via the GSM module to notify them of their child’s presence in school.
All attendance data is systematically stored in an Excel sheet for easy tracking and analysis, reducing the need for manual entry and minimizing errors. This smart system enhances transparency, improves communication with parents, and streamlines the overall attendance process.
