Dual Layer Security System Using RFID and Fingerprint Sensor



Project Description:
The Dual Layer Security System is an advanced access control system designed to enhance security using two levels of user verification: RFID card scanning and fingerprint authentication. Built using an Arduino Uno, this system ensures that only authorized individuals can access restricted areas.
When power is supplied to the Arduino Uno, an I2C LCD display activates and shows the project title, indicating that the system is ready for use. The first level of security involves scanning an RFID card. If a valid RFID card is detected, a buzzer sounds once, the person’s name is displayed on the screen, and the system prompts for fingerprint authentication. If an invalid card is presented, the buzzer sounds three times, and access is denied.
Upon a valid RFID scan, the second layer of security is activated — the fingerprint scanner. If the scanned fingerprint matches the stored template, the buzzer rings once, the LCD displays “Gate Open”, and a mechanism simulates the gate opening and closing. If the fingerprint is invalid, the buzzer rings three times, and access remains denied.
This dual-layer authentication approach significantly improves the reliability and security of the access control system. It is suitable for applications like secure labs, offices, or private facilities where high-level access control is required.
