
📌 Introduction
In today’s world, automation is making our daily life easier and smarter. One common problem faced in many homes is clothes getting wet due to unexpected rainfall. To solve this problem, we have designed a Rain Detection System using Arduino.
This system automatically detects rain and protects clothes by moving them to a safe place using a servo motor.
🎯 Objective
The main objective of this project is to:
- Detect rainfall automatically
- Protect clothes from getting wet
- Demonstrate the use of sensors and automation
- Build a simple and useful real-life application using Arduino
🛠️ Components Used
- Arduino UNO
- Rain Sensor Module
- 16×2 LCD Display (I2C)
- Servo Motor
- Buzzer
- Jumper Wires
- Power Supply
⚙️ Working Principle
The system works based on water detection using a rain sensor. The rain sensor has a conductive plate that detects water droplets.
- When rainwater falls on the sensor, it detects moisture and sends a signal to the Arduino.
- The Arduino processes this signal and activates different components.
🔄 Working of the Project
- The rain sensor continuously monitors for water droplets.
- When rain is detected, the sensor sends a signal to the Arduino.
- Arduino activates the buzzer to alert the user.
- At the same time, the servo motor rotates to move the clothes to a protected position (inside).
- The LCD displays the message “RAIN DETECTED”.
- When the rain stops:
- Sensor stops detecting water
- Buzzer turns OFF
- Servo motor returns to original position (outside)
- LCD displays “NO RAIN”
