  • Road accidents caused by alcohol-impaired driving continue to be a major concern worldwide. To address this issue and improve road safety, this project presents an abstract for an Accident and Alcohol Detection System using Raspberry Pi, Proteus simulation, sending messages with location information, alcohol and seat belt detection, and a buzzer alarm.
  • The proposed system utilizes a Raspberry Pi, a single-board computer, as the central control unit. It integrates various sensors and modules to monitor and detect critical factors that contribute to accidents. Firstly, an alcohol detection sensor measures the alcohol content in the driver’s breath. If the detected alcohol level exceeds a predefined threshold, indicating impairment, the system activates an alert.
  • In addition to alcohol detection, the system incorporates seat belt detection. Sensors are employed to monitor the status of the driver’s seat belt. If the seat belt is not fastened, the system detects it and issues a warning to the driver.
  • To ensure immediate attention and response, the system includes a buzzer alarm. When alcohol impairment or non-compliance with seat belt usage is detected, the buzzer generates a loud sound, alerting the driver to take corrective action.
  • Furthermore, in the event of an accident, the system incorporates accident detection modules using accelerometers or collision sensors. Upon detecting a sudden impact or collision, the system sends an alert message to a predefined emergency contact. The alert message includes the location information of the accident, allowing for a prompt response.
  • The integration of Raspberry Pi and Proteus simulation provides a cost-effective and efficient platform for implementing and testing the system. It allows for real-time monitoring and evaluation of the accident and alcohol detection features.
  • The proposed Accident and Alcohol Detection System offers a comprehensive approach to enhance road safety by addressing both alcohol impairment and seat belt non-compliance. By incorporating location-based alert messaging, the system enables timely assistance during accidents. The inclusion of the buzzer alarm ensures immediate driver awareness, reducing the risk of accidents caused by alcohol impairment and lack of seat belt usage

Software Require:

  • You need to install the Proteus 8.9 version in your laptop.
  • You also need to install MQ2,GSM,GPS etc. sensor libraries in proteus software, library installation process explained in YouTube video.
