  • Water scarcity and inefficient irrigation practices pose significant challenges in agriculture. To address these issues and improve water management, this project presents an abstract for a Smart Irrigation System using Raspberry Pi, Proteus simulation, moisture sensor, rain sensor, temperature sensor, water pump control, and message sending capabilities.
  • The proposed system utilizes a Raspberry Pi, a single-board computer, as the main control unit. It integrates various sensors to monitor environmental conditions and optimize irrigation. A moisture sensor measures the soil moisture level, providing an indication of water content in the soil. A rain sensor detects rainfall, allowing the system to adjust irrigation schedules accordingly. Additionally, a temperature sensor monitors ambient temperature, aiding in determining irrigation requirements.
  • Based on the sensor readings, the system employs intelligent algorithms to analyze the data and make informed decisions regarding irrigation. It controls a water pump to supply water to the plants based on the moisture levels and other environmental factors. This ensures efficient water usage and prevents over or under-watering.
  • To provide real-time updates and facilitate remote monitoring, the system includes message sending capabilities. It can send messages or notifications to a predefined user or farmer, informing them about the irrigation status, moisture levels, and any system abnormalities.   • You also need to install Moisture,Rain etc. sensor libraries in proteus software, library installation process explained in YouTube video.
